Champagne

I love champagne. Yes, it's bubbly. It's sparkly. People in movies say it makes their nose tickle. It tastes wonderful.

But what I love most about champagne is other people's reactions to champagne. The celebratory nature. The smiles and giggles that come with uncorking a bottle. The way somebody holds their glass or their head with a glass of champagne in their hand. It's infectious. It's delightful. I would drink it everyday.

Cowgirls & Pirates

There exists in the world multiple series of combinations that make my heart pump. Strawberry & Mango. Compass & Anchor. Grapes & Cheese.

And until now, I wondered if I was the only one fascinated by the possibly strange combination of Cowgirls & Pirates. Apparently not:

Meet the best find I got on my cowgirl pirate picture book pursuits online today: Adventures of a Cowgirl-Pirate by Critter. The world is wonderful sometimes.

Cheerios

My mom tells me that when I was a baby in my high chair, I loved Cheerios. I would eat them, play with them, throw them. They called me a Cheerio baby.

We took them everywhere as a snack. I remember that. At some point, I don't know how we got it, but we had a bright yellow plastic container in the shape of a Cheerio that had "Cheerio" written across the empty middle bit. I liked the way it felt in my hands.

It's a Cute Day

Brown, leather Fossil watch
(I want to go see the fossils at the Natural History Museum.)
Red sweater: too short, free, love it.
White tank with silver and gold stripes and
skinny jeans.
(Sometimes I want to be a sailor, other times a hipster, but
me always betrays the thought.)
Pink bra, underwear from when I was 15, Diva cup, white Wal-Mart ankle socks.
Green converse from 2004:
"Open me like a letter."
"XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
"star"

It's a cute day.

For May 9th

Part of a work-in-progress:

Standing on her cliff,
she watches the sea.
Like heatwaves
rising from the pavement.

A Note on Squirrels

I am making a purple stuffed squirrel and I want to name her 'Tulip.' She is going to be constructed with purple flowery Liberty of London fabrics, stuffed with purple verigated yarn from the charity shop around the corner and deep purple embroidery thread. I think I want to name her Tulip because the skunk in Bambi is called 'Flower' and 'Flower' makes me happy inside. 'Tulip' is going to be a present for someone who is far, far away from they live, and even though I'm not sure squirrels even exist in her home country (they might only be here), I still think 'Tulip' will bring her happiness too.
